The Freedom Schooner is owned and operated by AMISTAD America and sails to ports nationally and internationally representing the themes of Amistad triumph: racial reconciliation through perseverance, cooperation, and leadership. Amistad Memorial
165 Church Street, New Haven, CT 06511, This monument of Sengbe Pieh (known as Joseph Cinque) stands on the former site of the New Haven Jail, where illegally kidnapped Africans were imprisoned in 1839 while awaiting trial. It is a 14-foot sculpture cast in bronze highlighting the capture, trial and return home of Sengbe and his fellow captives.
